The Match
For the first time in history, Budapest hosts the UEFA Champions League Final. On Saturday, 30 May 2026, the Puskás Aréna will host Europe's biggest club football showpiece — in a city built for moments like this.
Kick-off is at 18:00 CEST — earlier than in previous years, a deliberate UEFA decision to improve the matchday experience and optimise city logistics. The pre-match entertainment is the Pepsi Kick Off Show, headlined by The Killers alongside a special appearance by David Beckham.
The Champions Festival — Free for Everyone
You don't need a match ticket to experience the magic. From 28–31 May, Heroes' Square (Hősök tere) hosts the official UEFA Champions Festival — a free, open-air celebration with live music, giant screens, football challenges, autograph sessions and interactive experiences.
On Friday 29 May, the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna hosts the Ultimate Champions Legends Tournament (UCLT) — featuring Champions League legends such as Figo, Kaká, Iniesta and Roberto Carlos. Tickets required for this event.
- 📍 Champions Festival: Heroes' Square — Free entry
- 📍 Legends Tournament: Papp László Sportaréna, 29 May — Ticketed
- ⚠️ Both the stadium and Heroes' Square fan zone will be extremely crowded — arrive early, stay hydrated, and expect heavy security checks at all entry points.

Match Tickets
The general public ballot closed on 19 March 2026. Successful applicants received their allocation directly from UEFA. The two finalists' fan allocations are handled separately through the clubs.
Official ticket prices ranged from €70 (accessibility/Category 4) to €690 (Category 1). If you still need tickets:
- 🔗 Check UEFA's official ticket portal for any released seats →
- ⚠️ Only purchase through UEFA.com/tickets or directly from the clubs. Many UEFA tickets are non-transferable and personalised — a ticket bought from an unofficial reseller may be invalid at the gate. Counterfeits are common at major finals.
Getting to Budapest
By Air: Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport (BUD). The 100E Airport Express bus runs 24/7, takes 35 minutes to the city centre and costs 2,500 HUF (approx. €6). Validate your ticket immediately after boarding. Taxi to central Pest: approx. 9,000–12,000 HUF via Bolt app.
By Train: Budapest Keleti is the main international rail hub, just 1 km from the stadium — ideal if arriving by Railjet, Intercity or Euronight from Vienna, Prague or Kraków.
By Car: Don't. Only 500 parking spaces exist near the stadium and surrounding roads will be closed on match day. Park and Ride facilities will be signposted from major motorways.
Getting to Puskás Aréna
- 🚇 M2 Metro (red line) → Puskás Ferenc Stadion stop → 7–8 min walk to gates
- 🚌 Bus lines 95, 7E, 182 stop adjacent to the stadium
- ⚠️ A4 bag rule: No bags larger than A4 (21×29.7 cm). Small crossbody bags and clear bags are fine.
- 📱 Download Budapest GO (BKK app) before you arrive — real-time metro tracking and digital tickets.
- 🔋 Bring a power bank — big crowds drain your phone battery fast and you'll need your ticket QR code and maps all day.
- 📶 Consider a local SIM or eSIM (Airalo / Holafly) for reliable data — roaming can be slow in crowds.
Where to Watch Without a Ticket
No ticket? No problem. Budapest will be electric across the whole city.
🏟️ Official UEFA Fan Zone — Heroes' Square
The UEFA Champions Festival broadcasts the match live on giant screens. Free entry — but arrive well before kick-off as it will reach capacity. Stay hydrated and expect bag checks at entry.

Essential Tips
- 🛂 Non-EU travellers: EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is active. UK, US and Australian fans: allow extra 45–60 minutes at the border for biometric registration.
- 🗂️ Passport: Must be valid for at least 3 months after your departure date.
- 📱 Budapest GO (BKK app) — download before landing. Digital transport passes and real-time metro.
- 💳 Currency: Hungarian Forint (HUF). Approx. €1 ≈ 400 HUF (rate fluctuates — check before travel). Cards accepted widely; carry some cash for smaller venues.
- 🚕 Taxis: Bolt app only. Never take unlicensed taxis — they target tourists at major events.
- 🔋 Power bank: Essential. Your phone will work hard all day (maps, tickets, photos).
- 📶 Data / roaming: Roaming can be unreliable in large crowds. A local eSIM (Airalo or Holafly) from a few euros/day is worth it.
- 🧳 Luggage storage: Available near Keleti station and at the airport if arriving early.
- 🍺 Drink responsibly: It's a full weekend. Pace yourself.
