The Match

For the first time in history, Budapest hosts the UEFA Champions League Final. On Saturday, 30 May 2026, the Puskás Aréna will host Europe's biggest club football showpiece — in a city built for moments like this.

Kick-off is at 18:00 CEST — earlier than in previous years, a deliberate UEFA decision to improve the matchday experience and optimise city logistics. The pre-match entertainment is the Pepsi Kick Off Show, headlined by The Killers alongside a special appearance by David Beckham.

The Champions Festival — Free for Everyone

You don't need a match ticket to experience the magic. From 28–31 May, Heroes' Square (Hősök tere) hosts the official UEFA Champions Festival — a free, open-air celebration with live music, giant screens, football challenges, autograph sessions and interactive experiences.

On Friday 29 May, the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna hosts the Ultimate Champions Legends Tournament (UCLT) — featuring Champions League legends such as Figo, Kaká, Iniesta and Roberto Carlos. Tickets required for this event.

Match Tickets

The general public ballot closed on 19 March 2026. Successful applicants received their allocation directly from UEFA. The two finalists' fan allocations are handled separately through the clubs.

Official ticket prices ranged from €70 (accessibility/Category 4) to €690 (Category 1). If you still need tickets:

Getting to Budapest

By Air: Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport (BUD). The 100E Airport Express bus runs 24/7, takes 35 minutes to the city centre and costs 2,500 HUF (approx. €6). Validate your ticket immediately after boarding. Taxi to central Pest: approx. 9,000–12,000 HUF via Bolt app.

By Train: Budapest Keleti is the main international rail hub, just 1 km from the stadium — ideal if arriving by Railjet, Intercity or Euronight from Vienna, Prague or Kraków.

By Car: Don't. Only 500 parking spaces exist near the stadium and surrounding roads will be closed on match day. Park and Ride facilities will be signposted from major motorways.

Where to Watch Without a Ticket

No ticket? No problem. Budapest will be electric across the whole city.

🏟️ Official UEFA Fan Zone — Heroes' Square

The UEFA Champions Festival broadcasts the match live on giant screens. Free entry — but arrive well before kick-off as it will reach capacity. Stay hydrated and expect bag checks at entry.

💡 Local tip: Reserve a table well in advance — fully booked days before the match. Most open early and show pre-match coverage from midday.

Where to Stay

Budapest is affordable by Western European standards even during major events — but prices have risen sharply for the final weekend. Book refundable rooms now and cancel if plans change.
